The Lawrence has made it over the infancy hump so it's high time I checked it out. The jury was out initially on it but has since gotten some solid steady buzz and after giving it a go I can confirm it is legit.
Not quite white table cloth but not flip flops and jeans you will find a happy adult medium here that is comfortable yet sophisticated.
On the menu you will find creative classic preparations of Americana dishes. Case in point, my entree of seared diver scallops over summer squash "noodles" were wilted and seasoned garnished with potato chips.
Many crafty cocktails accompany the beer and wine selections. Strong seafood presence on the menu. We opted for the artisan cheese board. Tasty but not overly inspired. It's good solid cheese to start off the meal. Chef's special of a crown roast was perfectly seasoned and tender. Nicely flavored beans offered a bed for the chop to lay on. Serious southern comfort.
I dove into the chocolate truffle cake with vanilla fleur de sel ice cream and cocao nibs. The EVO didn't bring anything to the party but overall the dessert worked well.
Extra points for good service and a noise level low enough to talk to your dining companion(s).
