Chops Lobster Bar. A review.

One of the longtime classic steak and chop houses in metro Atlanta I find chops to be fairly consistent in turning out delicious meals.

I have dined in both the main dining room as well as with a group in the downstairs lobster bar.

Once off the elevator into the lobster bar you smell vacation. Briny beachy and quite frankly for a seafood lover, mouth watering. Make no mistake you may be about to break the bank (unless you have an obliging date, fat expense account or enjoy professional success).  As you would expect the raw oysters (including east meets west assortment from each coast) and seafood tower are sinfully awesome. Really if a lobster bar delivered anything less they’d be run out of the city complete with tail between legs.

The service can be too attentive but it wasn’t bothersome.

I’ve had steaks both times. You can trick yours out in any manner of ways including, sauce béarnaise, blue butter, white truffle butter, chimmichuri and a classic French au poivre style. Naturally your steak trick can be a lobster tail for beef and reef lovers. My steak has always arrived perfect med rare as ordered. Tender and well flavored beef.

Sides are the usual suspects. Potatoes beat into delicious submission several different delicious ways. I’d cry without creamed spinach and mushroom and onions are there for the taking.

I have had a better steak but not by much. I will continue to return to Chops. I love the atmosphere, service and consistent food.
