World Peace Cafe. A review.

Located in the Kroger plaza just off Hammond and facing the Whole Foods Plaza is World Peace Café. It’s a two story  eatery and book/gift shop. This is one guiltless pleasure.

You won’t find meat in this peace keeping paradise.  They have a house made pimento cheese full of roasted red peppers and nice heat back finish. I found it too rich to finish the slim layer on my pimento cheese sandwich. The white bread did not taste fresh and that possibly contributed to me not finishing it. The side roasted wedges aren’t crisp but they are tender and flavored incredibly well. They could have gone salty but didn’t.

Roasted vegetable sandwich ( Marinated grilled veggies (carrot, zucchini, and onion), roasted red pepper, and grilled portabella mushrooms, topped with melted mozzarella cheese. ) is chock full of goodness. I love that it doesn’t have the every dull usual suspects of eggplant and tomatoes. I can go the rest of my life and never eat those two again.

Vegan Three layer chocolate almond cake is moist and sweet!  It lacks enough salt to balance and brighten but overall it’s not bad.

Weekday 1:30 pm lunchtime it was packed full of eating harmony diners. I absolutely will go back.  The staff is full of sweethearts and sunshine.  While not outstanding it’s got plenty of interesting vegetarian options in a city full of sin.
